The people respond to the reading of the word first with grief and weeping (v. 9). Why do you think encountering God’s Word often brings us to our knees, before we experience joy?
Can you share a time when Scripture both confronted you and comforted you?
What do you think “the joy of the Lord” actually means—whose joy is it? In what ways might joy empower obedience, perseverance, or generosity?
What steals your joy most often—guilt, busyness, comparison, fear, or something else? Where might God be inviting you to receive joy instead of striving harder?
